Lania is like someone who rides the elevator to the top of a sixty-story building and enjoys a loftier vista than someone who observes a limited view from the second floor.
She explains why a short life may be all someone needs. When the use of that body is accomplished, the soul leaves.
Say there is a spirit who needs to briefly experience physicality in order to accomplish something. That spirit chooses a particular mother because of another agreement. Before that woman took on a form, she selected lessons to learn. Maybe an abortion was the only way to catalyze certain circumstances - guilt, fear, anger - in order to learn a particular lesson.
But what happens if the woman doesn't have an abortion? The spirit is faced with an unexpected decision: miscarriage or a lifetime that it had not intended. And the woman doesn't have the opportunity to learn her lessons either.
Abortion makes no sense from a linear perspective. When you have more information, it makes perfect sense. The abortion benefits both of them.
Some babies also choose to quickly leave because all they wanted to experience was a peaceful death. They do not want to learn any other lesson. Perhaps they had a horrendous death in the life before. Now they want to balance it out and go out peacefully, to just stop breathing. That is all there is to it.
So let us say that this entity is a newborn who has all this love flowing to it from the parents. The baby is soaking up that love and bliss and attention. And this peace and contentment is all the baby wants to experience. And so the baby's soul chooses to slip out, wrapped up in all that love.
Of course, before this happened, there was already a cosmic contract between the parents and child. The parents wanted to move into a space where they could realize that physical reality is not all that there is, and that this little being who came into their presence was allowing them to have a total experience of love and then not judge that they had done something wrong - maybe the parents needed to resolve an issue of forgiveness, guilt, letting go, or not holding on.
Regardless of the mysterious physical process behind early childhood deaths, there is a mutual benefit when souls select a life lasting a few hours or days.
Lania Desmond, a contemporary spiritual healer, offers a more encompassing perspective on cosmic contracts in Chapter 33, Overcoming Spiritual Amnesia. Lania's Gifted Memory gave her insights into her relationship with her mother who was physically and emotionally abusive.
